Maritime Museum Amsterdam
Our first visit was to Scheepvaartmuseum Maritime Museum, located near the Central Station in Zeemagazijn Lands `s one of the buildings of the Golden Age
Just outside the station to the left you can see the NEMO Museum of Science and Technology.
Before I knew what was the theme of this museum, my first association was that NEMO would be the Maritime Museum of the fish named Nemo and we even got to ask some bloggers Who would be born before the movie or museum?
But we pass, crossing the canal by the bridge, enjoying the view of the boats moored there and the truth, that with a little sad to see that its waters were not as clean as we had seen in Utrecht or Rotterdam .
For the first time since he had come to Holland had been dirt, debris in the channels and I will not say it was the Dutch but also tourists. Maybe it was simply a mixture of both, an invitation to let something else.
At the Maritime Museum, a truly impressive building, we enter the inner courtyard (Open Pleyn) and the first thing I noticed was the ample space inside, the glass roof with steel beams that allowed daylight to enter the room.
The architect Laurent Ney was inspired by the compass rose of old maritime maps for this wonderful creation.
Once inside, we were informed that they had just opened its reopening, since between 2007 and 2011 had been under construction for renewal.
We then entered a room with blue banks and what was the surprise? That we had to paddle, we had a coach who told us how and when to do so we were all together
After paddling a few minutes as they pass the test, go to “The voyage” a virtual room, they took a 350 years ago in which we go into the history of Holland with Admiral Michiel de Ruyter.
In the same room with the story of Gerrit Bakker, sailor of a ship, a very young player who was afraid and wanted to return home.
