Travel to Bolivia: Tarija

The department of Tarija is located south of the Republic of Bolivia, bordered on the north by the department of Chuquisaca, south to Argentina, on the east by the Republic of Paraguay and west Chuquisaca and Potosí. It has an area of 37,623 km2 and a population of 291407 inhabitants (census 1992).
The capital is the city of Tarija (1866m), has 6 provinces and 157 cantons. Its terrain is mountainous and the rivers are all tributaries of the River Plate Basin, the most important of the Pilcomayo and Bermejo.
Agriculture:
The department of Tarija produce potato, quinoa, oca, corn, wheat, barley and a variety of fruits, is particularly important to the cultivation of the vine. In the warm parts of the department produces snuff, sugar cane, wheat, cotton and garlic, among others.
Livestock:
It offers fields suitable for cattle, swine, sheep, horses and goats.
