The department of Santa Cruz is, with more than 370,000 km2, the largest of the nine departments in the territory of the Republic of Bolivia.

Located in the east and borders with Brazil and Paraguay. Currently has about 1,500,000 inhabitants, the average annual temperature is 24.6 º C and their average height is 437 meters above sea level. Its capital is the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra which has a population of over 800,000.

In terms of activity and economic production, Santa Cruz is the most important region of the country, and its main object the production of oil, natural gas, wood, sugar cane, cotton, soybeans, rice, wheat, corn and dairy farms.

In the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and the “integrated region, which extends one hundred kilometers north of the capital, there is also considerable industrial activity. Highlight the sugar mills, oil refineries, silos and agribusiness related to soybeans, the dairy industry and its derivatives, the manufacture of building materials, furniture, leather goods, preserves and drinks.
