Three new islands on Lake Titicaca seek to attract tourism

Lake Titicaca, located on the border between Peru and Bolivia is the second largest lake in South America (after Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela) and the highest navigable lake in the world.

It has an area of about 9000 square kilometers and is situated over 3800 meters.

It has more than forty floating islands made on the basis of reeds (reed-like plant) inhabited by the Uros, indigenous residents of the area.

They just added three new islets in Sahuiña community, 10 miles from Copacabana. Have been baptized as Pachacamac, the Intihuata Yampus and are located 100 meters from the shore and separated by about 150.

In each one has built a gazebo and some huts similar to those made by the Uros on the other islands.
